Expanding construction has placed new demands on the building industry. There is a need for highly skilled people in both carpentry and cabinetmaking.
The Wood Tech program provides the student with the knowledge and skills necessary for job success in the industry. It also teaches a basic knowledge of the other construction trades. Fundamentals of building design, layout operation, cabinet design, CNC applications and materials of industry are taught in the classroom. The use of hand and power tools is developed in the shop. Residential construction techniques are developed at the house site. Related mathematics, blueprint reading, welding and estimating is included in the training.
Graduates have the opportunity for rewarding employment in cabinet shops, construction crews, building supply or lumberyards, and other phases of the construction industry.
