Western's greatest source of pride is the personal and professional achievements of its alumni, those who have gone on to distinguish themselves in their personal and professional lives, representing the best that Western has to offer. Harold Coppernoll

This year's recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award is Harold Coppernoll, owner of Coppernoll Mechanical Design, located in Ixonia, Wisc. He is a 1992 graduate of Western Technical College’s Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology program.

Harold, originally from Richland Center, Wisc., has worked in the Milwaukee, Wisc., area for nearly two decades, first at Arnold and O’Sheridan, an engineering firm, and then at Thelen Engineering as a plumbing designer. In 2005, he started Coppernoll Mechanical Design, a company that specializes in process and storage heating and cooling for the food industry. Clients have included Smithfield Foods, Patrick Cudahy, Sargento Cheese, and Joseph Campione. He also has done work for large condominium complexes, nursing homes and assisted living facilities, schools, and strip malls. While the business started with just his son and him, it has grown to five employees and has accounts across the country.

To honor his professional achievements and the role he plays as an advocate for Western and its students, Harold was recognized with Western Technical College’s 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award.
