At Western Technical College’s Independence Campus, the education you need is never far. If you are a high school student looking to get started on your college education, we have what you need. Customized Training for Business and Industry
Western’s customized training options are a great opportunity to provide training for your employees that meets your needs. Western will develop training based on your individual needs and deliver it either at your worksite or at the Independence Campus. Whatever your need, we can provide the course. GOAL/GED
Western’s GOAL Program provides a broad range of basic skill and literacy services to adults. These services can help open the door to employment opportunities and further education. Services include:
- Adult Basic Education (ABE)
- Developmental Studies in mathematics, writing, reading, biology, and chemistry
- High School Credential (GED Certificate, High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) or regular high school diploma)
- Workforce Education
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
Services for Students
- Library. Students can search La Crosse campus library holdings via computer, and request materials to be delivered to Independence.
- Admissions Testing – testing twice a month. Call the campus to schedule an appointment. You can also visit us on the Web where you will find additional information and study guides to help you prepare for the exam.. You to the Assessment page where you will find individual study guides in the areas of math, reading and writing.
Ways to Take Classes
- Interactive Television - Through cameras and microphones, students participate in classes that are at other campuses in the Western district.
- Internet - Classes taken at any time of day, anywhere you live. Students have access to computers at the Independence Campus.
- In Person - Instructor and students are in a traditional setting
Transferring Credits
Students enrolled at Western Technical College who wish to continue their education in the UW System may be eligible to transfer up to 30 credits toward their bachelor’s degree.
