Giving Options

You can make a cash gift with a credit card or with a check payable to Western Technical College Foundation. The benefit of a cash gift is that your dollars begin working for the college immediately. To make a credit card gift, call 608.785.9487.

You can make a larger commitment to the college by making a written pledge. Pledges will usually cover three to five years. Please contact the Foundation staff for a pledge card if you'd like one or fill in the on-line gift form at (link to gift form)

Gifts of Appreciated Property

Gifts of appreciated property are a common way for you to benefit Western Technical College and, at the same time, generate a tax savings. In many cases, you can avoid capital gains tax by transferring the appreciated asset to Western Technical College instead of selling it and donating the proceeds. The most common gifts of appreciated property include stock, mutual funds, and real property.

Memorial & Honorary Gifts

Memorial and Honorary Gifts allow contributors to recognize loved ones in a special way. Memorial gifts are made in memory of family members, friends, or colleagues who have passed away. Honorary gifts are an opportunity to acknowledge a special occasion for a friend, family member, or colleague. When such gifts are made, a special notification is sent the family or the individual.

Planned gifts

These are the gifts you pledge for the future. Examples include will bequests, insurance, gift annuities, and charitable trusts.

Corporate Matching Gifts

Increase the impact of your gift through Corporate Matching Gifts. Matching gifts are an excellent way to increase your giving potential to Western. Many employers (and former employers, for retirees) match the charitable gifts of their employees. Please ask your human resources department if your employer matches charitable gifts. If it does match gifts, please obtain, complete and submit a matching-gift form in order to multiply the value of your gift!

If you have questions about matching gifts, please contact your human resources department or contact the Western Foundation at or 608.785.9487.
