Career Planning Resources

Often times, incoming students are unsure of exactly what career they want to pursue. It can be helpful to spend some time discovering your personal interests and abilities in order to find a program area that matches your unique strengths. Below are some on-line assessments that can be helpful with that process.


Interest Inventory

Wisconsin Technical College Career Interest Questionnaire

Participate in this 10 minute questionnaire about your interests to help identify which clusters (career areas) might be the best fit for you. Based on activities you enjoy, your personal qualities and school subjects you like, the questionnaire ranks the career clusters you may find most fulfilling. Fill out questionnaire now

DISCOVER

An on-line assessment that assesses your interests, abilities and values. This assessment requires a code that can be provided by the Western Welcome Center. Simply call 1.800.322.9982 and ask a front desk person to provide you with a code. http://actapps.act.org/eDISCOVER

WISCareers

A web-based assessment that helps testers learn about how their unique interests, abilities and values can be applied to a career. Emphasis placed on careers that are specific to the Wisconsin labor market. This assessment also requires a code to sign-in. Strong Interest Inventory® (SII)

This assessment will provide individuals with information about themselves and their relationship to the working world; information that will lead to greater self-understanding and to better decisions about the course of their lives.
