Walking
Walking is simple. If you are thinking about walking to work, consider these tips on pedestrian safety
You can shower at the Wellness Center after your walk. A shower pass is a dollar, or ten dollars for a punch card. This gives you access to the locker room and a towel rental. No membership needed! For Western staff and students only.
Mix 'n Match
Ride your bike part way to work and finish your trip aboard a bus, or take the bus one way and ride your bike home. Drive your car to the Valley View Mall Park 'n ride, and take the bus to campus. Traditionally, parking for commuters is the lot by the stop sign at Sears. The bus stop is at door 4, between JC Penney and Herbergers on the east side of the mall. Take the bus route nearest you as close to campus as possible, and, instead of transferring buses, finish your route on foot.
MTU
La Crosse MTU provides safe and convenient public transportation for the La Crosse area.
- Western Technical College is on a bus route
- Western staff and students ride for free with a current staff ID
- Buses run every half hour through La Crosse, French Island, and a portion of Onalaska
- Buses run every hour through La Crescent
- MTU buses are handicap accessible
- You can put your bike on the bus

Live Well Physical Activity Project Team
The Live Well Physical Activity Project Team is made up of Western employees and is responsible for implementing programs, events, and policy change surrounding the topic of physical activity on the Western campus. The team has made active commuting a priority and is working to make it easier for everyone on campus to be a "Green" commuter. Here are five easy ways you can actively commute.
