Reserves

Books, articles, videos, DVDs, CDs, and other materials may be placed on reserve behind the circulation desk. Reserve items can be textbooks, material in limited quantity, material in high demand and instructor’s personal copies.

  • Length of time reserves circulate vary depending upon the number of copies available. Reserves can circulate for one hour in-library use up to 21 days.
  • For any special needs, assistance or questions regarding reserves, please contact the Circulation Desk (ext. 59142).
  • Please allow 2 days before you assign reserves to students and remind students a Western ID is needed to checkout reserve items.

Reference & Other Services

The Reference Librarian will help you and your students locate materials for class projects.

Library Instruction/Tours

Library instruction provides students with information and instruction in the use of the Western Library's print and electronic resources and where these resources are located in the Library.

Instructional tours are conducted for classes upon request. Please call Ron Edwards 608.785.9552 to schedule a session.

Book Recommendations

We strongly urge you, as teachers, to help enrich your subject areas in the library collection by recommending books that will aid the students in your programs. We welcome your suggestions! Contact any library staff person with your suggestions or email library@westerntc.edu

Book Donations and Gifts

The Library is pleased to accept books, CD's, records, videos, audio tapes and magazines as a donation anytime. If material cannot be placed in our collection, it will be put in our on-going book giveaway within the library.

Laptops

Western faculty or staff may checkout a laptop for 7 days with a Western ID. Sorry, we cannot renew or reserve laptops. $5.00 a day late charges apply.

Use of Other Local Libraries

Faculty and students at Western Technical College may use library materials at UW-L's Murphy Library and Viterbo College's Todd Wehr Library, subject to each library's regulations. See the Circulation Desk for a referral form for UW-L. To identify local library holdings, see WISCAT

Access to Informational Databases

The library subscribes to a variety of informational databases. A complete description and instructions for on and off-campus access is located at http://www.westerntc.edu/library/newsmagarticles

Test Proctoring

The library may assist students, staff and faculty with proctoring written tests on campus. We can also proctor tests for students, staff and faculty who are taking courses from other institutions.
