Library Services
Computer Lab
The Library computer lab has PC and Mac computers with a variety of software and program-specific applications. Scanners and color printing are available. A full-time technician and work/study students are on duty to assist with computer and tech-related issues.
Computers/Equipment
- In addition to the computer lab, the Library has 24 PCs with Internet access and Microsoft Office Suite 2007
- A typewriter is available for use
- Six TVs and DVD/VHS players (available in the group study rooms)
- Audiocassette players and calculators are available for checkout
- Three photocopiers including two for public use
Group Study/Quiet Rooms
Six multipurpose rooms allow for group collaboration, tutoring, viewing DVD/VHS for classes, and individual study.
Wireless Access
Using your laptop, you can connect to WESTERN wireless internet with a passphrase. Ask any of the library staff for the passphrase.
Access to Informational Databases
The library subscribes to a variety of databases. Descriptions and instructions for on and off-campus access is located at http://www.westerntc.edu/library/infodatabase
Test Proctoring
The Library will do it's best to accommodate proctoring of tests for Western students, staff and faculty, but the physical layout and staffing arrangements in the Library does not provide the best environment for testing. Guidelines and instructions for test proctoring are included on the Library's Test Proctoring Information form. This form must be completed and attached to the test before delivery to the library. A 48 hour notice for test proctoring is required and only written tests will be accepted.
