General
Where can I pick up a schedule?
You may pick up a schedule from any Western Technical College campus location, e-mail your address to us and a copy will be mailed to you, and/or click on List of Classes for current semester information.
What is a non-credit or non-degree course?
A non-degree or non-credit course is a class you would take for personal enrichment, personal development or for informational purposes. It is also a course in which you do not take tests or receive a grade. Non-degree or non-credit also means that these classes will not transfer or have a credit value for any technical diploma, two-year or four-year degree here or at other degree institutions.
When do classes start?
Fall courses are in session September through December. Most spring non-degree courses run late January through May. Summer classes are held June through August.
Age
Senior Citizen Fee
To qualify for the senior citizen fee, you must be 62 years of age or older by the end of the term in which your class is in session.
Students Under Age 16
1989 Wisconsin Act 24 allows Western to enroll persons age 16 or under in classes. The law provides that persons under age 16 must meet regular admission criteria, provide written permission of parent or guardian, and not attend classes during the normal school day.
Students Under Age 18
A person under age 18 must provide written permission from their parent or guardian to attend classes and also sign a commitment to pay for these classes.
Books And Supplies
For the majority of classes, students are expected to purchase textbooks, and for some classes, other supplies as needed. All textbooks and some supplies are available at the Western Bookstore (Campus Shop), along with a wide selection of Western sportswear and gear. The cost of books and supplies are not included in fees. For more information, check out their website.

Cancelled Classes
Western Technical College will make every effort to inform students when classes must be cancelled. It is important that student telephone numbers are kept up-to-date in the Registrar's Office. Students will be asked at the first class meeting to provide daytime contact information for last minute class changes. You can also check the web at westerntc.edu/weatherwatch for campus closing information.
Computers
How do I know what computer class to choose? Take the computer quiz, Am I In The Right Class. Then, click on List of Classes for current semester information. If you have questions or need additional assistance, please contact us directly at 608.789.6100.
Disability Services
Western provides support services for students with documented disabilities. Classroom accommodations are based on individual needs and instructors will be notified of your request for accommodations. Parking
Parking permits are not required for evening or weekend classes. A parking permit is required to park in all LaCrosse campus lots until 5:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 12:00 noon on Friday. Day-only parking permits are available at a cost of $2.00 per day and can be purchased:
- in the Student Life Office, Kumm Building, Room 100
- or by calling 608.785.9445
Purchase of a parking permit does not guarantee you a parking spot.
Payment
Payment in full must be received within fourteen calendar days of registration or before the first class meets, whichever occurs first. Please include your date of birth and course number(s) on your check to assist cashier in crediting your account. Mail your payment to:

A $35.00 late fee will be assessed for all past due balances over $50.00
Refunds
Refunds are based on the course beginning date, scheduled length of classes, and the date the class is officially dropped. Refunds are not based on whether or not you attend class. Refunds are available:
- 100% if the district cancels the class
- 100% if the student drops the class prior to the first class meeting
- Partial refund may be available if the student drops the class prior to the second class meeting
