Western Technical College’s Business and Industry Services Division is offering a certification workshop on Pre- and Perinatal Massage Therapy for perinatal professionals. The 32-hour training will run Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 15-18, from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the La Crosse Campus.
The workshop covers more than 80 advanced techniques specifically developed to enhance pregnant, laboring, and postpartum women's comfort, health, and enjoyment. Participants will practice and receive personalized feedback in deep tissue, passive movement, neuromuscular, reflexive, positional release, and other somatic methods modified for emotional, structural, and physiological challenges of the childbearing year.
The workshop is paced for experienced graduates of 500-hour diversified somatic programs. Other perinatal professionals are admitted with instructor approval. Advance reading of Pre- and Perinatal Massage Therapy and anatomical review are required.
The course was developed by Carole Osborn-Sheets, nationally recognized integrative body therapist, instructor, and author. The instructor, Jennifer Hicks, is the educational director and co-founder of Big Sky Somatic Institute School of Massage Therapy in Helena, Mont. Participants will earn continuing education credits recognized by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).
