Each year, the Western Technical College Foundation holds a raffle for a free semester of tuition. This year’s lucky winner is Alex Barney, a graphic design student from La Crosse. He received reimbursement for 12 credits of his fall 2009 tuition.

Barney is not the only beneficiary of the fundraiser, which has been held for the past six years. Proceeds from the raffle go toward Western Technical College scholarships and programming.

“On average we raise about $4,000 per year, and that money directly impacts students.” said Jaime Fortier, Western Foundation assistant. “The money benefits the area of the college that needs it most.”
