Western offers free leadership certificates

Western Technical College’s Business and Industry Services Division in Mauston is offering free Leadership in Manufacturing certificates. The training is funded through the Department of Labor’s Community-based Job Training Grant and is offered at no cost to a limited number of participants.
The next certificate class, Supervision, begins Tuesday, April 12 and will meet Tuesdays from 2:00-5:00 p.m. for eight weeks at Western’s Mauston location, 1000 College Ave. The first Operations Leadership certificate class, Safety in the Workplace, begins Tuesday, June 14 and runs an additional eight weeks. Further classes are scheduled through February of 2012.
These three-credit courses are designed to enhance interpersonal and management skills, and will cover topics such as supervision, safety, quality, team building, and leadership. Courses are grouped into Leadership in Manufacturing certificates, which ladders into Western’s Supervisory Management associate’s degree program.
