Western Technical College Diesel & Heavy Equipment Technician program students conducted a Toys for Tots Drive with the goal of exceeding last year’s $900 toy donation. They succeeded, gathering more than $1,400 worth of diesel-themed children’s toys.

Cindy Kreibich, Toys for Tots barrel co-chair, visited the Diesel Training Center today to thank the students and pick up the toys.

“With just this generous donation, the Jaycees Toys for Tots program will be able to give toys to more than 50 different kids this Christmas season,” said Kreibich.

In addition to the toy donations, the diesel students are bringing in canned goods for WAFER and recently raised over $1,100 to benefit an instructor’s 11-year-old daughter who is battling cancer.

“Our community supports Western and the Diesel program in so many ways,” said instructor Casey Eglinton. “It’s only right that we support our community in return.”
