The year 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of Western Technical College. The college is inviting the community to help them celebrate at a festive event on Monday, May 14, from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Cleary Courtyard on the La Crosse main campus. In case of rain, the event will be moved inside the Lunda Center.

A program from 10:00-11:00 a.m. will include a mayoral proclamation designating May 14 as the official day to celebrate the 100th anniversary. Other guest speakers will include President Lee Rasch, a Western alumnus, retiree, and district board member.

The program will also include a time capsule ceremony, where Rasch will open a capsule from the college’s 75th anniversary in 1987. Items collected to represent 2012 will then be placed into a new time capsule in the same location.

Following the program, picnic style refreshments will be served along with anniversary cake. Historical items and information will be on display in the Lunda Center. The public is invited to stop by anytime during this free event.
