Western to host Black River Falls information session on referendum
Published on Friday, October 05, 2012
On Nov. 6, voters in Western Technical College’s 11-county district will see a $79.8 million facilities referendum question on their election ballots. Prior to the vote, the college will be hosting information sessions around the district. A session will be held at Western’s Black River Falls location, 24 Fillmore St., on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
The public is invited to attend to learn more about Western’s Vision 2020 facilities plan, see renderings of the proposed renovations, and get answers to questions and concerns.
“We’re bringing this referendum to the voters in what is projected to be a high turnout election,” said Western President Lee Rasch. “We did this intentionally, because it’s important to have as many people as possible vote on the college’s direction for the future. Our community meetings will give voters the opportunity to get the information and make an educated decision on November 6.”
The referendum will be presented to voters in the Western Technical College district, which covers all or part of 11 counties, including Buffalo, Clark, Crawford, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Richland, Sauk, Trempealeau, and Vernon. The tax impact per $100,000 worth of property would be $39 per year or $3.50 per month.
