Western Technical College students, Alexis Marsh of Hixton, Wis. and Sara Bashaw of La Crescent, Minn., recently took first place in the Wisconsin Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Student HR Games at UW-Oshkosh.
The duo beat out 18 other university and technical college teams in a Jeopardy-style competition of human resource-related categories. Each team, comprised of two or three members, competed in multiple rounds, progressing to the semi-finals and ultimately the final rounds. Western’s team beat Chippewa Valley Technical College in the final round to win the championship and $400 for their student SHRM chapter.
“We are so proud of Alexis and Sara,” said Sue Horne, faculty advisor for Western’s SHRM chapter. “This is a testament to technical education as both finalists were technical colleges despite the multiple universities represented.”
