WWTC marketing students win awards at international conference

Five marketing students from Western Wisconsin Technical College placed within the top 12 in international competition at the 2005 Delta Epsilon Chi International Career Development Conference, held recently at the Disneyland Resort and Conference Center in Anaheim, Calif.
Katie Brunslik, of Viroqua, Wis., was part of the first place team in the Management Institute Team Event. Her group created a marketing plan for the Anaheim Angels. Joel Franke, of La Crosse, Wis., placed 4th in the Marketing Management Event category. Dan Mannigel, of Green Bay, Wis. and Bob Nelson, of Ripon, Wis., teamed up and took 4th place in the Sports/Entertainment Event category. Jenna Nelson, of Middleton, Wis., placed 4th in Apparel and Accessories. And, Domanic Scardino, of Tomah, Wis., placed in the top 12 for the Sales Manager Meeting Event. In addition, WWTC’s WMMA advisor, Barb Ebner, received the Advisor of the Year award at the international level.
A total of fifteen WWTC students attended the international conference and participated in competitive events, which involved interviews, tests, role-plays, online simulations and written project reports to evaluate students’ marketing and management skills.
The participating students are members of the La Crosse chapter of the Wisconsin Marketing and Management Association (WMMA) at WWTC. WMMA is an international organization for college students preparing for a variety of career areas. Its local chapters and state associations are a division of Delta Epsilon Chi Association (DECA), Inc.
