WWTC creates online program to help working adults advance into management

Western Wisconsin Technical College (WWTC) has developed an online Supervisory Management program that will allow participants in many communities to earn an associate’s degree while continuing to work full-time. Information sessions about the program will be held Thursday, Aug. 4 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Room 102 of WWTC’s Business Education Building, 405 8th St. N., La Crosse. The public is invited to attend this free event.
The Supervisory Management program is designed for people interested in acquiring or improving managerial or supervisory skills with a business emphasis. Today’s requirements of technical expertise and high productivity are addressed in this program. Skills such as human relations, labor relations, and management principles are developed. Students learn about diverse topics, including safety, diversity, project management, team building, quality, legal issues for supervisors, and leadership.
The fully online program can be completed by students at their own time and at any location using the Internet. Online courses begin Monday, Aug. 29 and are conducted by instructors with hands-on business experience. Another option is the Supervisory Management accelerated learning program, which meets one evening per week in a cohort group format. This means that students will attend classes with the same team from start to finish, and can complete their degree in only two and a half years. The next group starts Sept. 1 and will meet on Thursday nights on the La Crosse Campus. An accelerated group will also begin in Tomah by late fall.
