The need to protect computer systems from malicious attacks is a critical issue for information technology (IT) professionals today. Western Wisconsin Technical College (WWTC), in conjunction with the Tri-State Area Technology Group (TSATG), will host two seminars related to implementing network security. The seminars are designed for IT professionals and students and are free and open to the public.

In these sessions, Microsoft technology specialist Shawn Travers will facilitate a discussion and analysis of network defenses designed to protect computer systems from various attacks. Travers will explore the defense-in-depth model – an approach that involves applying countermeasures at every layer of a computer network.

The first session is geared toward IT students and entry level IT professionals and is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. This session will be held at WWTC’s La Crosse Campus in the Kumm Building Cafeteria, 400 6th St. North. Please call 608.785.9168 or e-mail nickelottin@wwtc.edu for registration and additional information.

The second session is geared toward IT professionals and will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the La Crosse City Brewery Hospitality Center, 1111 3rd St. South. To register for this session, please send an e-mail with your contact information to tsatg@tsatg.org.
