Local students assist WWTC women’s volleyball team to regionals

Samantha Korn of Bangor; Kayla Olson of Barron; Brittany Schwantz of Onalaska; Ashley Neumann and Sara Chapiewsky of Sparta; Brett Dechant, Gretchen Fritz, and Bobbi Jo Plueger of Tomah; and Mindy Gruba of Stanley are members of the Wisconsin Junior College Athletic Association State Champion Western Wisconsin Technical College Volleyball team. The WWTC Lady Cavaliers are currently 34-3 and will be playing in the National Junior College Region XIII Regional on Nov. 4-5 for the right to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament Nov. 10-12. WWTC is also currently ranked third in the NJCAA Division III national poll, the highest any WWTC sports team has ever been ranked nationally.
Gruba was also named to the All State Tournament Team and All Conference. Korn was named All State–WJCAA, All Conference–WTCC, and All Region XIII. Neumann was named to the All State-Wisconsin Junior College Athletic Association, All Conference-Wisconsin Technical College Conference, All Region XIII, and the All State Tournament Team.
