Committee appoints Western District Board members

The Western Technical College District Board Appointment Committee recently appointed one new member and reappointed two current members to the Western Technical College District Board. Newly appointed member Tom Smith of Onalaska will serve as an employer representative. Guy Leavitt of Blair and Joanne Sandvick of
La Crosse were reappointed to the board.
Smith is the director of business operations support at Midwest Security United Health Care Insurance Companies of Onalaska. He has served as a member of the Western Technical College Business and IT advisory councils. Smith is also a former member of the Onalaska School Board and has been a business executive in the La Crosse community for 18 years.
All three appointed members will serve three-year terms from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2009. Appointed District Board members serve on a voluntary basis and are not paid. The District Board must be organized to represent employees, employers and the general public at large throughout the district; one member must be a public school administrator and one member an elected official. The Western District Board is responsible for the administration of vocational, technical, and adult educational programs and services in the district as authorized by the Wisconsin Technical College System Board according to state legislation.
