Western Technical College’s student-run restaurant will be open for business starting Thursday, Feb. 1. The Western Corner Bistro, located in the Kumm Center on the La Crosse campus, is open to the public on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. throughout the spring semester.

The eatery is run by the second-year Culinary Management and Food Production Specialist students and gives them an opportunity to experience the different aspects of operating a restaurant. The students learn everything from running the cash register to preparing and serving the meals.

Menus for Western Corner Bistro were produced by Menu Design students and selected by a team of well-known area chefs. The entrees change at the mid-semester point, but will include a hot sandwich, pork, fish, and chicken option. Desserts are also available.

In addition to the restaurant, the students also take part in running a bakery. Bakery items are sold in the Kumm Center Cafeteria, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (unless sold out earlier). The bakery is also open to the public.
