Western offers business & industry seminars for La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Western Technical College’s Business and Industry Services Division is offering a series of workshops and training opportunities for area businesses at Western’s La Crosse Campus.
“Microsoft Office 2007 Updates” will be held Tuesday, October 16 from 1 p.m.–4 p.m. Get a detailed overview of the new Microsoft interface and get tips and tricks for using the ribbon and the new file formats to increase efficiency and collaboration. The seminar cost is $62. Please register by October 9.
“Communicate Clearly” will be held Tuesday, October 16 from 2 p.m. –5 p.m. Learn to be clear and concise when giving directions and presenting information. The seminar cost is $52. Please register by October 9.
“Listen Effectively” will be held Wednesday, October 17 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Participants learn to listen so that specific and complicated directions are not misunderstood or misapplied. You’ll get tips on how to listen, provide feedback, and incorporate appropriate body language in the listening process. The seminar cost is $52. Please register by October 10.
“How to Hire and Retain the Best Employees” will be held Wednesday, October 17 from 1p.m.–4 p.m. This seminar is designed to help employers deal with today’s challenging job climate. Topics will include interviewing, retention and tips for developing entry-level employees into long-term valued members of your team. The seminar cost is $62. Please register by October 10.
“Presentations with Pizzazz!” will be held Thursday, October 18 from 1 p.m.–3 p.m. This seminar will help you develop a presentation that will teach, entertain, and challenge your listeners to think critically about your topic. The seminar cost is $62. Please register by October 11.
“Generational Differences for Managers” will be held Thursday, October 18 from 8 a.m.–noon. With workers from four different generations in the workforce, the potential for misunderstanding, frustration, and conflict puts increasing pressure on productivity. This seminar will help you learn to effectively work with and manage a multigenerational workforce. The seminar cost is $67. Please register by October 11.
“Access—Tables” will be held Friday, October 19 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Learn to create tables, define primary keys, add fields, choose data types, set field properties, add and edit table data, and sort and filter records. The seminar cost is $62. Please register by October 12.
