LA CROSSE, Wis. – On Tuesday, Nov. 20, students, faculty, and staff at Western Technical College will be participating in the fifth annual Volunteer Fair. The event is scheduled from 10:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Kumm Center cafeteria, 400 6th St. N.,
La Crosse. The event has been arranged by Western’s service-learning coordinator and four service-learning students.

The fair provides an opportunity for organizations to reach Western’s student population to increase awareness of local not-for-profit agencies and encourage community involvement. The event also serves as a working lab for students in the Service-Based Speech/Written Communication course. These students volunteer with a community service agency and are able to apply speaking skills learned in the classroom as they represent their organizations at the event.

La Crosse area agencies that will be represented at the fair include AmeriCorps VISTA, Coulee Region Humane Society, The Salvation Army, Operation Iraqi Children, Coulee Region Literacy Council, Western’s Instructional Support Division, Great Rivers United Way, Bethany St. Joseph Care Center, and many more.
