Hours of Operation
The Center is licensed for service from 6:45 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our calendar year for 2007-08 will begin August 27.
Child care is a service offered to student parents during the time they are in classes, studying, at lunch, using the Wellness Center or at work. At all times that child care is provided, a current schedule must be on file specifying the parent’s location on campus or an accessible cell number.
The Center offers child care to faculty, staff and parents from the community whose hours of work are within the Center’s hours of operation. A current schedule must be on file specifying the parent’s location on campus or at their workplace.
The Center will offer a 4-year-old Preschool Program in collaboration with the La Crosse School District. The preschool schedule will be 8:30-11:15 Monday-Friday. The programming and schedule will integrate most activities currently offered in the PCC preschool room. Children included in this program must be residents of La Crosse.
Drop-in child care is available on a daily basis for parents needing child care for a child who is currently enrolled. Drop-ins will be taken only if space is available in the center with a 24-hour notice preferred. An additional day rate will be charged for drop-in care and is due the day of care.
The Center will operate closely in accordance with Western’s calendar for the fall and spring semesters. The Center will be closed on school holidays, and for some time between the fall and spring semesters. The Center is planning to be opened for the summer of 2008. A 2007-08 calendar is included with this handbook.
The Center is closed if the college is closed for a snow day or other emergency cause. If Western will open with a 2-hour delay, the Center will open accordingly. The local radio and televisions will make the announcements.
The toddler classrooms will develop a flexible daily schedule according to the children’s individual eating and sleeping patterns.
