Admission Requirements



Western accepts COMPASS, ASSET or ACT –Testing may be waived with applicable post-secondary credits. There is a $20 fee for this assessment (fee subject to change). If you have taken the ACT, ASSET or COMPASS within the last five years, you can request that your scores be submitted to Western. The testing requirements are:

*If you have a writing score that is in the following range -- ACT/16-18, ASSET/41-44, or Compass/56-74 – you will be advised to complete Beginning Composition. Once you successfully complete that course with a C or better, you can take Written Communication which is part of your program. [Your lower score(s) do not prevent you from taking core classes.]

** If you have a math score that is in the following range -- ACT/16 Math, ASSET/37-40 Numerical, or Compass/34-46 Pre-Algebra – you will be advised to complete Basic Math. Once you successfully complete that course with a C or better, you can take Math with Business Applications which is part of your program. [Your lower score(s) do not prevent you from taking core classes.]

*** If your reading score is lower than -- ACT 17+, ASSET 40+, or COMPASS 75+ - you will be advised to take College Reading (77858762) through the Instructional Support Division (ISS) division. Once you successfully complete College Reading with a C or better you are able to enroll in Body Structure and Function which is part of your MAP program. [Your lower score(s) do not prevent you from taking core classes.]
