The Wood Tech program provides the student with the knowledge and skills necessary for job success in the industry. It also teaches a basic knowledge of the other construction trades. Fundamentals of building design, layout operation, cabinet design, and materials used in the industry are taught in the classroom. The use of hand and power tools is developed in the program. Residential construction and commercial construction techniques are developed in the lab and on-site house construction sites. Related mathematics, blueprint reading, estimating and OSHA training is included in the training.
Graduates have the opportunity for rewarding employment in the cabinet shops, construction crews, building suppliers, and other phases of the construction industry. Construction has placed new demands on the building industry. There is a need for highly skilled people in both carpentry and cabinetmaking.
- Wood Tech is a 42 week program with 2 sections starting in June and August
- Students are trained to work in Commercial Carpentry, Residential Carpentry, and Cabinetmaking.
- Students will build new houses funded by the City of LaCrosse Housing and Rehab
