Program Overview

The Wood Tech program provides the student with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful employment in the construction and cabinetmaking industries. Fundamentals of building design, site development and building layout operations, cabinet and furniture design and construction, and materials used in the construction and cabinetmaking industries are studied in the classroom. The safe use of hand and portable power tools as well as stationary power equipment is demonstrated and applied in the cabinet shop and framing lab. Students will apply residential construction techniques at multiple on-site construction projects. Related mathematics, blueprint reading, estimating and Auto CAD are part of the students' training. Graduates have the opportunity for employment in rewarding careers such as cabinetmakers, carpenters, general construction workers, building supply or lumberyard personnel, and other positions within the construction industry.
