ITC Electricity Fundamentals

Internal Certificate

Credits Required for Graduation: 6.00

Program Overview

This certificate covers the fundamental concepts of electricity and electrical circuits. Electrical quantities such as Voltage, Current, Resistance, and Power are investigated and measured. Generation and characteristics of both AC and DC power are discussed along with coverage of standard circuit configurations such as series and parallel. Components such as switches, fuses, resistors, inductors, capacitors, relays, and transformers are introduced. DC, single-phase, and 3-phase AC values are measured in lab activities utilizing various standard measurement instruments while emphasis is placed on troubleshooting circuit malfunctions. The required math courses are taught right along with the electrical concepts to provide an application-based experience where the math is directly related to the field of study.
