ITC Programmable Logic Control
Internal Certificate
Credits Required for Graduation: 6.00
Program Overview
This certificate includes the programming and installation of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) along with the required prerequisite knowledge of personal computer applications, digital gate logic, relay ladder diagrams and industrial control devices. An introductory course on Windows and basic PC software is included but can be waived if the student can demonstrate sufficient PC proficiency. Coverage of binary number systems and digital logic circuits are also included along with control elements found in industrial systems. The function and application of switching elements, optical and proximity sensors, control relays and timers are studied with emphasis on troubleshooting, testing and use of control diagrams. Many basic control circuits are assembled first with standard control relays and timers and then recreated using PLC software and hardware applications.
