Program Overview

This certificate includes coverage of the theory, operation, and application of industrial hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Fluid power components such as hydraulic and pneumatic pumps, motors, valves, actuators, and accumulators are addressed with emphasis placed on component and system operation. Practical lab applications are performed involving manually actuated valve control and electronic control of fluid power circuits. Maintenance and troubleshooting topics are also included. Prerequisite: Completion of Electricity Fundamentals certificate or instructor approval. The first course of this certificate could be completed with only 31-660-305 Basic Electrical Calculations 1 (DC) as a prerequisite. However, the electrical control of fluid power covered in the second course requires the prerequisite knowledge of at least 31-660-312 DC Circuits.
