LA CROSSE, Wis., November 13, 2019 – As part of a $162,035 Wisconsin Technical College System grant, Western Technical College will be offering a new six credit Framing and Construction certificate for adults beginning January of 2020.
The 11-week program will meet three times each week at Western’s Apprenticeship Facility, 2860 21st Pl. S., La Crosse, with an additional cohort offered in April. The program is designed as a flexible option for individuals seeking entry-level construction work next summer. The certificate also serves as a lead-in to Western’s Wood Tech technical diploma. Seventy-five percent of the program was funded through the grant, while the additional 25 percent was provided by Western.
“There is such a high demand for workers in the construction industry,” said Josh Gamer, dean of the Integrated Technology division at Western. “We are using this grant to put workers out in the industry quickly using a strong mix of theory and hands-on courses.”
Scholarships are available for students attending the program. To learn more about the Framing and Construction certificate, visit https://www.westerntc.edu/framing-and-construction.
