LA CROSSE, Wis. April 20, 2020 – Due to the continuing concern over the spread of COVID-19, Western Technical College is announcing a number of updates for the upcoming Summer Term.
Summer Term classes will begin as scheduled on Monday, May 11, and all coursework that is able to be transitioned will go to online or alternative method delivery. For courses that cannot move online, Western is developing a plan to start in a face-to-face format later in the summer, depending on when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
“Regardless of the course format, we will continue the same high-quality education. In addition to program-specific courses, we have added capacity to our general studies classes, university transfer opportunities, and short-term certifications,” said Kat Linaker, vice president of academics at Western. “We don’t want anyone’s goals to be put on hold. And our staff will be here to support students with technology, academic, and financial assistance.”
Western is expecting to receive additional funding from the U.S. Department of Education that will allow the college to provide assistance to students impacted by COVID-19. The college is working on details and an application form, which will be communicated to students this week.
Western’s Fall Term is expected to begin as scheduled on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Registration for fall starts as early as Monday, April 27.
