LA CROSSE, Wis., August 22, 2017 – For the second year, Western Technical College ranks in the top 3 percent of the nation’s community and technical colleges, according to WalletHub, a personal finance website.
In a report released on Aug. 21, WalletHub compared 700 community and technical colleges across three key dimensions, including cost and financing, education outcomes, and career outcomes. Western ranks number 20 out of 700, which is up from 22nd place last year.
“This ranking recognizes our focus on student success through relevant, high-quality education,” said Roger Stanford, Western president. “Our local businesses value a Western education, and we take pride in the high job placement rate of our graduates.”
The WalletHub analysis draws, in part, on data that is reported annually in the national Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE), conducted by the University of Texas at Austin.
The Wisconsin Technical College System also fared well on the report, ranking number five on a list of 25 states, based on a weighted average of scores earned by the technical colleges in each state and the number of students enrolled in each school.
