Western Student Receives NAVPA Scholarship

Renae

LA CROSSE, Wis., May 16, 2017 – Western Technical College student, Renae Giertych, was recently awarded a $500 scholarship from the National Association of Veterans' Program Administrators (NAVPA).

Giertych is enrolled in Western’s Truck and Heavy Equipment program and is a member of the Army National Guard.

“Renae is a hardworking and focused student who is pursuing a career that is non-traditional for women. It’s great to see her being rewarded for her dedication to both the military and her education,” said Western Veteran Services Manager Jackie Helgeson.

The NAVPA Scholarship Program offers eight scholarships, one to each of the eight NAVPA regions of the United States. The NAVPA Scholarship is available to veterans, service members, and their dependents who are pursuing undergraduate, graduate, and alternative certification at NAVPA member institutions. To be eligible, Giertych had to be in good academic standing, complete an essay, and provide a letter of recommendation.
