Western Technical College President Announces Retirement

President Lee Rasch

LA CROSSE, Wis., Oct. 17, 2016 – After 28 years as the president of Western Technical College, Lee Rasch will retire on June 30, 2017, at the end of the current academic year.

Rasch made the announcement Monday to the staff and faculty during a town hall meeting. “Since 1989, Western has served as my home, and the Western community has served as my family,” said Rasch. “It has been an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to share in the important work this institution does every day.”

“We are saddened that Lee is leaving, but we have been very fortunate in having his leadership over the last 28 years,” said Dennis Treu, chair of the Western Technical College District Board. “It’s through his leadership and vision that the college has transformed academic programming, systems to serve students, and district-wide facilities. He will be missed and will leave big shoes to fill, not only at Western, but as a community leader.”

A national search for the seventh Western Technical College president will soon be underway. The details of the search committee are in development and the process will involve input from staff, faculty, and members of the community.

“Be assured that I will continue to provide my dedicated leadership throughout the next nine months,” said Rasch. “I will take all steps necessary to ensure a successful transition, and I am confident the organization will remain in good hands.”
