LA CROSSE, Wis., October 13, 2020 – To help ensure the health and safety of Western Technical College students and staff, the college is announcing a number of COVID-19-related updates to the upcoming Spring Term.
Similar to the ongoing Fall Term, the majority of classes will be offered in an online or alternative format whenever possible. Classes that require in-person instruction will be limited in size. The college made the decision now to allow schedules to be created for spring registration.
No final determination has been made regarding Western’s Residence Hall, which has been operating at approximately 50 percent capacity for the fall. And, any continued precautions such as face masks and social distancing requirements will depend upon the continuing impact of the pandemic.
“As of last week, we have only one active positive case on our La Crosse campus, which reflects the great work of our staff and students in preventing the spread of COVID-19,” said Western President Roger Stanford. “With that said, La Crosse and our surrounding counties are not currently in a position for Western to safely expand in-person offerings at this time, but we are working hard to continue to deliver high-quality education to all of our students.”
Western’s Spring Term begins on Monday, Jan. 11. To learn more information on Western’s response to COVID-19, visit www.westerntc.edu/coronavirus.
