Western business students participate in state competition

Two Western Technical College Business students recently attended the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference in Lake Geneva, Wis. As part of the conference, Kevin Ellingson, of La Crosse, and Rodney Knutson, of Tomah, participated in competitions that tested their knowledge and skills in information technology.
Ellingson, a second-year student in the IT-Web and Software Developer program, took first place in Interview Skills, first place in Information Technology Concepts, second place in PC Servicing and Troubleshooting, second place in Database Applications, third place in JAVA Programming, and fifth place in Computer Network Technology Concepts.
Knutson, a second-year student in IT-Computer Support Specialist program, took third place in Information Technology Concepts, fourth place in Computer Network Technology Concepts, ninth place in Fundamental Word Processing Skills, and ninth place in Interview Skills.
Ellingson qualified to compete in four events at the National Leadership Conference, May 6-10, in Dallas, Texas.
