Western’s Parent Child Center to host open house
Published on Monday, March 22, 2010
The Parent Child Center on the Western Technical College La Crosse campus will hold an Open House, Wednesday, April 7, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. During that time, a developmental review for 3- and 4-year-olds will also be conducted by the School District of La Crosse. Parents interested in fall enrollment are encouraged to tour the center and learn more about this child care option.
Serving children ages 1-7, the Parent Child Center is used by Western students and staff as well as by the general public. All members of the teaching staff hold degrees in Early Childhood, and students in Western’s Early Childhood program use the center as a lab to do activities with the children.
In addition to child care, the center is a recognized site for the 4-year-old preschool program developed in partnership with the La Crosse School District.
“We have such a unique facility,” said Kim Herman, director of the Parent Child Center. “The highly-trained staff at PCC has worked many years in the EC field providing the best care for children along with mentoring the Western students. They are truly dedicated professionals.”
The center’s four full-time teachers have more than 60 years of combined experience. During that time, they have been dedicated to the center’s philosophy to enhance the development of the child as he or she grows physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually at his or her own individual rate. The teachers have been equally as committed to coaching students who are pursuing careers in child care.
