Western in Independence hosts College Night for high school students

Western Technical College in Independence will host an informational College Night for high school students and their parents, grandparents, or guardians. The event will take place Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Western, 36084 Walnut St., Independence.
The evening will provide important information for those interested in attending any college. The agenda will include information regarding: admissions, pre-entrance testing (COMPASS, ACT), transferability of credits, financial aid, scholarships, and FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act).
The session will also address the college first-year experience, including dealing with roommates, food nutrition, being away from home for the first time, credit cards and the financial challenges that students will have to consider.
Presenters include a career counselor, financial aid representative, current and former college students, a high school counselor, and parents.
