Western Technical College is now a certified Pearson Vue testing center. The testing center provides test administration and proctoring services for Western students, for the community, and for many professional testing companies. As a certified regional testing facility, anyone who needs to take tests, including those required for career certifications, licensing or personality assessments, can do so at Western.
Barb Kelsey, Career Services and Assessment Center manager at Western, highlighted one important test administered by Western, which is the General Education Development (GED) test, a program designed to help adults over age 18 who do not have a high school diploma qualify for college, training or jobs. The GED test has transitioned from paper and pencil to computer based. With the transition, there has been increased costs, and many testing centers in the nation have closed their doors and no longer offer the GED test. “Being able to offer the GED test is of utmost importance to Western and the additional testing services make the center that much more valuable,” said Kelsey.
Pearson Vue delivers millions of high-stakes tests a year across the globe for clients in the licensure, certification, academic admissions, regulatory, and government testing service markets. It has over 5,100 test centers in 175 countries, 400 of which are fully-owned and -operated Pearson Professional Centers. Pearson Professional Centers utilize a design, which was created specifically for high-stakes testing and offers a carefully controlled, consistent testing environment.
