BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. - It’s not too late to add education to your list of New Year’s resolutions. Western Wisconsin Technical College (WWTC) offers General Education Development (GED) and Goal Oriented Adult Learning (GOAL) programs in many locations throughout the WWTC District including Black River Falls.
Adults may join most courses at any time based on individual needs as determined by the instructor. The GED and GOAL courses are great for anyone interested in returning to work, seeking a better job, entering the workforce or just improving their skills. Adults needing a review of writing, math or reading skills prior to enrolling in a post-secondary education program are also welcome (book purchase required for some course work).
Before taking the GED/High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) test, adults must complete the GED/HSED Orientation at any WWTC campus/center, attend core classes to prepare for testing, complete timed GED official tests with passing scores, register to test with instructors at area centers and pay a testing fee of $90.
GED testing in Black River Falls is scheduled to take place Thursday, March 10 and Thursday, April 14. You must register for the exam at least one week prior to the testing date listed.
Other services offered through WWTC’s Instructional Support Services Division include English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Adult High School Program, Developmental Courses prior to post-secondary training, COMPASS Test Preparation, Basic Skills/Review and High School Credit Courses. Not all courses are available at each WWTC location. The Adult High School program for example is only available in La Crosse, Mauston, Tomah and Sparta. Most GED and Adult Basic Education Classes are free of charge to students.
