LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Western Wisconsin Technical College (WWTC) Foundation, Inc. welcomes a new member to the Board. Debra Johnson started her term on the Foundation Board this past October and will serve a three year term ending October, 2007.

Johnson brings a small-business owner’s perspective and extensive accounting experience to her board position. A Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner, she and a colleague opened the accounting firm of Johnson, Jaekel & Associates, Inc. in 2002, where Johnson is responsible for tax engagements and research for business and individuals in conjunction with financial and estate planning. She has dealt with financing issues, cost allocations and land development relating to office, commercial and residential projects. Johnson has presented numerous seminars on tax, financial, retirement and estate planning topics, and served as a part-time evening instructor for Intermediate Accounting at WWTC.

In addition to her business contributions, Johnson is also active in the La Crosse community. She was president of the Downtown Rotary Club from 2002-2004, and currently serves on the Board of Directors. She is also past president of the UW-La Crosse College of Business Board of Advisors, the West Central Chapter of Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA), and the Business of Professional Women of La Crosse. She is a past board member of the Scenic Bluffs Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Boy Scouts of America - Scenic Bluffs Council.
