The Western Wisconsin Technical College (WWTC) Automotive Technician and Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technician programs will be holding an Open House at the La Crosse Campus on Wednesday, April 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to visit the Automotive area in the Coleman Center, 304 6th St. N., as well as the Diesel Shop located at 2719 Larson St. in the Industrial Park. There is no charge to attend.

Participants of this event will learn about the many careers available in the automotive and diesel industries. Program students and staff members will provide facility tours and demonstrations throughout the day.

The Automotive Technician program has been certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), a branch of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and all of the instructors are ASE-certified. Graduates of this program may enter the workforce as technicians for dealerships, manufacturers, and fleet companies or may also be self-employed.

Students in the Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technician program get hands-on experience in the troubleshooting and repair of diesel engines, fuel systems, power trains, electrical, HVAC, heavy equipment repair, computer controlled systems, air systems, and brakes. Graduates of the program enter the workforce as truck, diesel, and heavy equipment technicians, not to mention the variety of other opportunities for employment in related fields.
