WWTC to host Accounting Showcase
Published on Thursday, April 28, 2005
Second-year students in the Accounting program at Western Wisconsin Technical College (WWTC) will be hosting an Accounting Showcase on Tuesday, May 10 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in rooms 106 and 114 of the Business Education Center, located at 405 8th Street N. on the La Crosse Campus.
Area employers and the general public are invited to attend the event and learn about perspective employees. Students will be sharing their portfolios, demonstrating their computerized accounting projects, and presenting on their cost accounting projects.
“We have had great success with this event in the past,” said Jim Murray, WWTC Accounting instructor. “It’s a great opportunity for our students to demonstrate their knowledge and skill and a great introduction for employers and community members to our program.”
Students in the Accounting program at WWTC learn the theory and practice for entry-level accounting positions in private business and industry, governmental agencies and public accounting firms. They prepare for “real-world” employment with activities such as practice sets and projects. Graduates of the program are prepared to analyze business transactions; maintain accounts receivables and accounts payables; review, prepare and interpret financial reports; prepare payroll reports, and assist with audits and in preparing departmental budgets.
