WWTC to host telecast on building a ‘World Class Workforce’

Western Wisconsin Technical College will be hosting a national telecast titled “Building a 21st Century World Class Workforce” on Wednesday, July 27. This free event will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in Room 203 of the Coleman Center, 304 6th St. N., La Crosse, and is open to the public.
The telecast will include discussion on what it takes to build a workforce that can compete in a global market; a new streamlined workforce development system in the state of Mississippi; and a technical/community college perspective of how local efforts are putting these concepts into practice.
The session features panelists David Bearden, principal deputy assistant secretary of Commerce for Economic Development; Ms. Emily DeRocco, assistant secretary, Employment and Training Administration, United States Department of Labor; The Honorable Haley Barbour, governor, State of Mississippi; Dr. P. Anthony Zeiss, president, Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte, NC; and Dennis Donovan, executive vice president of human resources, The Home Depot.
Following the telecast, there will be time for discussion and comments from local participants.
