To continue to meet the need for healthcare workers, Western Technical College-Black River Falls Campus will be offering a Skilled Nursing Assistant training course this fall. The Campus is hosting a free information session about the course on Tuesday, July 25, from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
According to WORKnet (Wisconsin’s Workforce and Labor Market Information System) nursing aides, orderlies, and attendants are among the top 10 occupations in the state with the largest number of projected openings during the 2002-2012 time period. There are projected to be an average of 1,580 openings per year for these nursing assistant related jobs.
Nursing assistants work under the supervision of registered nurses and are employed in various areas where health care is provided. They offer supportive care to residents in nursing homes, other long-term care facilities, and hospitals. Classroom and clinical learning activities are correlated to provide meaningful patient care and experiences.
Western’s Skilled Nursing Assistant training classes will meet Mondays and Tuesdays, Sept. 5 through Dec. 5, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Black River Falls Campus.
