Western Technical College’s Business and Industry Services Division is offering seminars and training opportunities for area businesses. All seminars will be held at the Black River Falls Campus, 808 Red Iron Road.

A two-part interviewing series will cover strategies to use during the hiring process to make sure you find the best employee for the job. Participants can attend one or both sessions:

“Safe and Effective Interviewing” will be held Tuesday, April 10, from 9:00 a.m.-Noon. Topics covered include: advantages and disadvantages to interviewing, the eight-step hiring process, tangible and intangible qualities to look for, stereotyping, the scientific approach to interviewing, and non-verbal cues.

The second part, “Interviewing – Both Art and Science,” will be held Tuesday, April 17, from 9:00 a.m.-Noon. Topics covered include: seven major interviewing methods, the four parts of the interview, behavioral interviewing, situational interviewing strategies, the job content method, recommendations for interview use, putting strategies to use, and making the decision.

“Employee Performance” will be held Tuesday, April 24, from 9:00 a.m.-Noon. This session will provide strategies to help managers and supervisors effectively evaluate employees’ performances. Several types of performance evaluation tools will be covered, including staying on top of your employees’ performances on a day-to-day basis.
