Eighteen marketing students from Western Technical College recently attended the International Career Development Conference for Delta Epsilon Chi, the parent organization of the Wisconsin Marketing and Management Association (WMMA), which was held in Orlando, Fla.
The conference included competitive events that required interviews, tests, role-plays, online simulations, and written project reports that are used to evaluate students’ marketing and management skills. This year the La Crosse chapter had eight of the 18 participants win medals in their events.
Carly Burch was a medalist in the Travel and Tourism event. Corrie Gulsrud was a finalist in Apparel and Accessories, finishing seventh overall in the nation. In team events, Mandy Meyer and Jaimie Witt finished eleventh overall in the largest event, Sports and Entertainment Marketing. In International Marketing, Zachary Dowell and Corissa Grundman placed fourth in the nation, and the team of Trisha Besse and Jill Drazkowski took home top honors in the Business Ethics Event, making it the second year in a row that the La Crosse Chapter has taken first place at Internationals in Business Ethics.
WMMA is an international organization for college students preparing for a variety of career areas. Its local chapters and state associations are a division of Delta Epsilon Chi (DECA), Inc.
