The Western Technical College District Board Appointment Committee recently appointed two new members and reappointed two current members to the Western Technical College District Board. Newly appointed member Lynn Erickson, of Mauston, will serve as an employer representative, and Terry Erickson, of La Crosse, will serve as an additional member. Dan Hanson, an employee representative from La Crosse, and Chris Williams, an additional member from Sparta, were reappointed to the board.
Lynn Erickson is the vice president/business banker for M&I Marshall and Ilsley Bank in Mauston. She has served as a member of the Western Technical College-Mauston Campus advisory board. Lynn has also served on a variety of educational advisory groups over the years, including the Mauston High School School-to-Work Committee, and is involved in the Juneau County Economic Development Corporation-Inventors & Entrepreneurs Club.
Terry Erickson is currently the Commissioner of the Mississippi Valley Conference, a high school athletic conference covering La Crosse, Holmen, Onalaska, Sparta, and Tomah. Terry recently retired from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse after serving as the executive director for over 30 years.
Terry Erickson was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board beginning May 15, 2007 through June 30, 2008, and the other three members were appointed to serve three-year terms from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2010. Appointed District Board members serve on a voluntary basis and are not paid. The District Board must be organized to represent employees, employers, and the general public at large throughout the district; one member must be a public school administrator and one member an elected official. The Western District Board is responsible for the administration of vocational, technical, and adult educational programs and services in the district as authorized by the Wisconsin Technical College System Board according to state legislation.
